Download rootcheck source and install:
# wget http://www.ossec.net/rootcheck/files/rootcheck-0.7.tar.gz
# tar -xvzf rootcheck-0.7.tar.gz
# cd rootcheck-0.7
# ./install
# ./rootcheck.pl
It should be fine.
